Yeah i was like that a while back, but when i read about the probs it put me rite off the idea.
The Nav does need one tho, but it needs to be made for that vehicle IMO

Re: tail gate gas strut
The thing that got me wanting something like this after getting the truck, was that my youngest son opened the tailgate and it nearly knocked him out. He was not expecting it to be so heavy.....

Good point...... there would be tears.......
Just going from memory i think there is a wire strap on each side of the tailgate...isn't there.......must be something we can do there......
I will have a look and a think tomorrow......

Hicube wrote:Hi Guys,
Regarding the EZ Down tailgate damper. I read a few threads on the other site a while ago about these.
First off, the tailgate of the US frontier has a different hinge arrangement, so the EZ is not a bolt on fit to the Navara. It has to have a few mods to fit (cutting and drilling holes)
The second thing i have read about them is that they strain the tailgate and have started to bend some peoples tailgates out of shape. Carts is the man to ask about these as he has one, but has disconected due to this problem.
Hope that helps a bit before anyone runs out and orders one
Guys as tony says, I have one of these... took a bit of time to fit, the kit needed to be modify.
once fitted i loved it.... open and you could just let go...
then i started to notice the tailgate was no longer closing smoothly,
the reason was that the side with the strut was flexing, on futher investigation you could see the whole tailgate flex on opening.
At this stage i removed the strut and since the problem has gone away.

and then
