Dragline Boom Drop - Curragh Qld Australia (Some Swearing)

A large dragline boom has been badly damaged after it was dropped while being lowered to the ground for routine maintenance at Wesfarmers Curragh coal mine in central Queensland.

A statement from the mine said: "The boom of the dragline was being lowered by four cranes and, as a result of winch failure with one of the cranes, the boom fell around 30 metres."

"The incident caused major structural damage to the dragline's boom and a full investigation into the cause of the incident has been initiated by the mine's management and independent assessors, including government work safety authorities.

The operator of the crane that dropped the load was the only person injured and his injuries were reported to be minor.

Holy sh**e, that's mental, you can just see a guy running for his life on the left hand side !!!! Scary stuff that!!!!

You can hear the brakes start to release on the winch of the large crawler crane on the right just before it goes Like Steve says everybody scatters and a few bits of plant go like the clappers to get out of the way
