Well i took off the DTE today!
Well i couldn't believe the difference in power, i was sure that it wasn't that big of a difference until today!! good god it was like my brakes where stuck on
The reason i took it off was my truck has started to sound like a bag of spanners in the morning, and i mean a bag of spanners, its embarrassing, so i need to get the injectors sorted as i'm guessing its that or the map for the fuel!! will soon see i suppose!!!

I'll do it myself buddy, just need Nissan to programme the new injector!! as i dont know anyone with the software !!! bloody typical, but hey i wont be spending £400 for an injector off them!

Re: Well i took off the DTE today!
Its been there for a while and just started to get really noisy today, so i had a quick look and its either the fuelling or injectors !! if i could find someone with the client software it wouldn't be half the battle!! i'll sort it though, its just annoying, and i might have guessed as I'm not a fan of Renault parts!!
Re: Well i took off the DTE today!
You saying about Renault parts, makes you wonder what you are really buying...... When fitting my alarm on the truck, I found out the BCM is a Peugeot / Citroen part !! it even has the bloody badges moulded onto the plugs

Your right there buddy, they swap and change bits all over the place and my grip is that french vehicles in the most are pants, and now Nissan are using them
Now you know why i like the VW!!

Re: Well i took off the DTE today!
I forgot you had that!! And now you've a Nav full of frenchie parts oops!! All in all it's a great truck but very fragile IMO!! More like the Z3 than a truck, still capable though!!
Oh well more bits to fix, just as well I'm a fiddler

Re: Well i took off the DTE today!
Honestly though, you wouldn't believe the shoddy parts in the Nav, also the hilux now there is no way the latest vehicles will last very long

I have to agree mate, My old Dad had one of the first Nissan Kingcabs back in the early 80's and that lasted for over 200,000 miles with no problems at all. Some how doubt the new stuff of today will last anything like as well......
Have just found an old photo (1984 i think) of when my Dad got his new truck......

Re: Well i took off the DTE today!
Nice pic and a nice new Nissan, lovely i must say though i've had a few of the latest motors, from the RRS to the 5 series and IMO they are all the same, absolute tosh, the only thing that i had recently that was excellent was the 90's A4 i think the B5 now that was built to last, i did over 100K in it sold it with 180K and its still going with over 250k on the clock
Re: Well i took off the DTE today!
Dont get me wrong.... I like the techy / gadgets in all the new motors that are about, but its all way to much to go wrong.
Like with the trucks, you used to have "levers" to engage 4wd not plastic electric "switches", Diesel engines that just started and run without the aid of computers and sensors....... Like you say, dont think you will be seeing many 10 / 20 year old D40 navs still driving about in the future

Re: Well i took off the DTE today!
I agree, but what gets me is the use of shoddy parts thats how the UK ended up with no car industry, making to the cheapest spec, it just doesn't work!! have they never heard the saying keep it simple? I've took a look at the Nav and i don't think it will be around neither, its over complicated, an under achiever if you like, more like a throw away car than a work horse, but so is the competition!!! So i've no answers other than wait to see if the VW can get it right first time out!
Re: Well i took off the DTE today!
Yeah, must admit it will be good to see the "German engineering" on the new vw...... Think it may well put some other truck makers to shame

Re: Well i took off the DTE today!
I agree but only if its not reliant on electronics the moment any manufacture goes down that route its curtains, at the end of the day what should be evident in every concept should be the use of mechanical set up with electronic back up not the other way round!!
